Rev. Dr. Yong S Chung

Rev. Dr. Yong Sup Chung, 84, of Lenexa, Kansas passed away on March 20, 2011. Rev. Dr. Chung was born on March 19, 1927 in S. Korea. He graduated from Han-Shin Theological Seminary in 1956. Rev. Dr. Chung served on the Korean Bible Society’s translation committee, translating the New Testament from Greek to Korean, 1958-1970. He received his Ph.D. in Practical Theology from Emory University in 1974. Rev. Dr. Chung served on faculty at Kang-Nam University, 1974-1979 and past President of Kansas Bible College, 1977-2001. Dr. Chung served as Senior Pastor at Kansas City Korean Christian Church, Pittsburgh Central Church, and Korean United Presbyterian Church of Kansas, where he remained Pastor Emeritus until his passing. He is survived by wife Dong K. Chung; son Jae H. Chung and his wife Mi Hyeon, their children Na and Joon Young; daughter Eun Dobbins and her husband Tim Dobbins and her sons Samuel and Simon Roh. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2011; with a viewing service at 7:00 p.m., at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral Service will begin 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 26th at the chapel, followed by burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
