Wilma K. O'Connor

Wilma K. O’Connor, 78, of Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away July 14, 2020 at Advent Health Hospital. Services will be Friday, July 24, at Curé of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, Kansas. The Rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. A short reception will be held at O’Neill’s Patio following Mass. A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Wilma was born March 19, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri to Wilbur and Betty Carpenter. Wilma graduated from Southwest High School. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Dennis O’Connor, for 59 years. She was a psychiatric nurse at Research Hospital for 27 years. Wilma enjoyed traveling and spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks, boating, swimming and cooking. She always had an open door for people to come visit and play. She loved being with her family, friends and puppy dogs.

Wilma was preceded in death by her father Wilbur Carpenter and her son John M. O’Connor. Survivors include her mother Betty Carpenter, husband Dennis O’Connor, daughter Stacey Thetford (Larry) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, son Jonathan O’Connor, sister Ann Jakobe, grandchildren Jessica O’Connor, Shannon O’Connor, Connor Thetford, and Cameron Thetford, and six great grandchildren.
