William (Bill) R. Walsh, 81, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Friday, October 9th, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 17th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5500 Woodson Rd., Mission, Kansas with burial following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be held Friday, October 16th from 5:30-8:00 p.m at McGilley State Line Chapel, where the Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Kansas City - St. Joseph.
Bill was born on October 25th, 1933 in Kansas City, KS to William and Irene (Leake) Walsh. He grew up in Sacred Heart parish in Kansas City’s Westside and graduated from Redemptorist High School. He was second generation American born, proud of his Irish heritage. Bill married Stephanie Juricak, on June 9th, 1962, and together they raised their four children in St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Kansas City. He was a member of many Catholic organizations over the years which blessed him with many lifelong friendships. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed helping with their fundraising efforts. He was involved in Cursillo, and he loved attending his prayer group at Christ the King church in Kansas City. He worked for Upsher Laboratories in Kansas City for many years and later for GSA, from which he retired. Bill had cerebral palsy from an injury at birth, but neither he nor his family ever let that define or limit him. He truly loved life and lived each day to the fullest without complaint. He was a kind man with a warm heart and infectious smile.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Karyn Walsh, brother Thomas Walsh, nephew Christopher Walsh and niece Laura Plunkett. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Stephanie, chidren Alicia Walsh-Girardeau (Jim), Amy Stock (Tom), Anthony Walsh (Cecelia) and Angela Walsh-Fisher (Mike), brothers Larry (Suella) Walsh and Dennis (Patty) Walsh, grandchildren Hannah, Lindsay, Grace, Quinland, Hayley, Donovan, Finnegan and Isaac, nieces, nephews and countless friends.
