It is with a heavy heart that the Townsend family has shared the passing of their "Papa T". William D. Townsend passed away Sunday evening, September 11, at the age of 80 years old, in his home, surrounded by the love of his family, drowned in a thousand kisses, and walked to the gates of heaven, hand in hand, to the warm embrace of God.
Born May 24, 1942, "Bill" lived an epic adventure. His journey, like him, was one-of-a-kind. He will always be our ultimate teacher, our best friend, our greatest fan, and our own personal superhero. Although he always wanted a brother as a boy, God gave him a 'Brotherhood' with his three boys.
Thank you to all those who truly knew the real him and whose friendships he deeply treasured throughout his life. He loved immeasurably, generously, and gratefully.
The Townsend Family joyfully invites friends and family to celebrate the legacy and life of William D. Townsend on October 4th, with a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's the Archangel located at 14251 Nall Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas 66223 (143rd & Nall), followed by burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery South, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. A reception will follow the burial at Blue Hills Country Club from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m., located at 777 Burning Tree Drive, Kansas City, Missouri 64145. Our Father, as he would always tell us, "Never quit on a hill" right up to end, where it finally became his "time to rest on the other side". His race is won, his body healed, his spirit free of his earthly bonds, and his greatest adventure has just begun. We love you Pop!
