Like many others who have written here, Bill Tobler was my Scoutmaster at Troop 16, and his influence on me was profound.  Anybody who was lucky enough to know him as a Scout feels the same way.

He had a way of making us all feel proud. With Mr. Tobler in charge, you always wanted to do it -- whatever “it” was: walk 20 miles, camp out in January, sell that holly.  He believed in each of us, and in turn we wanted to show him we could hold up our end of the bargain. When a man like Bill Tobler put his faith in you, you didn’t want to let him down. 

And yes, I sure remember those Dutch-oven cobblers he cooked up, even on the coldest overnights. Mr. Tobler never seemed to get cold. 

To the Tobler family, I just want to convey my deep regrets at his passing, and my feeling that you all were very lucky to share your lives with such a wonderful man.

To the Toblers Family:
Please accept my deepest condolences of the passing of Bill. I had the greatest pleasures of geeting to know you all. I first met Bill in Feb. 1967 when I join Troop 16. My fondest memories ( there's alot of them) when he call me to let me know that the BSA was going to change the rules from 21 to 24 merit badges to reach Eagle. He said that I only needed 3 more merit badges to get Eagle and I have only 3 weeks to do it. He said that he 
"believe" in me that I can get it done. He was right. I got it done in 4 days ! He was the greatest man I had ever had the pleasure of knowing him and his beautiful family. Thanks for the memories. If any of you ever go to heaven looking for Bill, just follow the "auroma" of the dutch oven and you'll find him.

Lisa and Family-  I was so sad to hear of your dad's passing.  I have precious memories of him taking his nightly walk with Sandy.  I hope you will be comforted with the wonderful memories in the days and weeks ahead.  It was an honor to have known him.  with love - Donna Gum Jack

Mr. Tobler was my scout master and more importantly a man whom I looked up to and admired.  His dedication to Troop 16 has benefited my life in so many ways and for that I am forever grateful to have had the pleasure and honor of knowing him.  I am pretty sure that Mr. Tobler is teaching St. Peter and all of the angles the finer points of camping & dutch oven cooking.

My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Tobler and his entire family.

Penny, Court and I want to express our sympathy to you and your family.  We both have memories of Bill that go back to grade school days.  We enjoyed renewing our friendship at Royals games in more recent years.  Our thoughts are with you.

So sorry to hear of Bill's death.  Bill, and my husband, Al Armstrong, were in the same fraternity at Southwest.  Al died in 2006.

We had a get togehter at our house for the 50th reunion, I believe.  Bill was there.

Penni--I, and the entire Senior Softball community are grieved by the loss of Bill, a truly dedicated, gentle and caring teammate and manager.  I will always cherish our times together, as I know you will also.  Please accept my condolence in your, and your family's, great loss.

Bill has had an incredible impact on my family for years.  He was scoutmaster to all 3 of us Neihart boys.  I shared with him recently that I had become the scoutmaster in the troop for my 3 sons largely due to his wonderful role model.  It has been a special relationship keeping in contact with Bill over the years, and I will miss him very much.

Bill was my scoutmaster and due to him and his encouragement I became an Eagle Scout, with many others. His leadership and inspiration contributed profoundly to shaping the lives of many young men. I will always remember him fondly and can never thank him enough for all that he did to influence my life. I'm sure he will be making several great meals in a "dutch oven" in heaven. A great scoutmaster and mentor. After he taught me how, I've built 1-match campfires all of my life. I miss selling holly, too.

Last time I was with Bill was at the 50th Reunion of SW High School. He and I were in Tri-Sigma faternity (not recognized by the school) and pursued many antics together. So Long, Bill

Hello, this is Lacy, one of Bill's three grandchildren. I just wanted to say that I'm very proud of having had an astute businessman who significantly contributed to our family's old business, Tobler's Flowers. When I was learning how to drive, helping me with my math homework, going to the Chiefs and Royals games with him are just a few wonderful memories I have with them. I will especially never forget the  nights when I secretly watched him and the Tobler's crew hustling the Valentine's  deliveries in and out of the garage at their old house in Overland Park.

Hello. I am one of Bill's three grandchildren. I just wanted to say that I am proud to have had a very astute businessman for a grandfather. I am also proud of the fond memories I have with him. And especially of my time with him on his very last day. He made a wonderful long life for himself and I am relieved knowing that he has now transitioned to a place of peace and joy.

Bill Tobler was the scoutmaster when my sons went trough the scout program.  He was a wonderful leader.  I remember the inspirational messages he would give at the meetings of the parents and scouts. 

I am grateful that my sons  and I  had the privilege to know him and will remember forever his great leadership and devotion to scouting.

I send my most sincere condolences to the famly.  I played on Bill's softball team in the late 90s and I am thankful for the wonderful time that we had.  He will be remembered as a great leader and a true fiend.

Bill was Scoutmaster of Troop 16 when our 2 sons were boy Scouts and with his encouragement, earned the Eagle Scout Award. Bill cared about each and every scout. Unselfish and generous to all. He will be missed.
