Born in Wichita, Kansas in 1925, Bill was the oldest son of William and Lucille Robison. He was predeceased by his younger brother Jack and a sister Rosemary. The family moved to Kansas City where he went to Border Star Elementary, and then Southwest High School, graduating in 1942. Bill enlisted in the Navy ROTC at KU and trained as a Navy pilot. After the war, he went back to KU to complete his business degree and fell in love with Marjorie Vera Peet. They were married in Kansas City, June of 1947.
After college, Bill went into the lawn and golf course supply business with his father and his brother at Robison's Lawn and Garden. They sold the business in 1997.
In 1948 their first son, Peet Ellet Robison was born. The family moved to Lake Lotawana, Missouri in 1949. Lake Lotawana was the summer home of his wife's family, Bob and Louise Peet. First son Peet was followed by another son Edward James Robison in 1951 and a sister Catherine Louise Robison in 1952. Bill remained at B-13 for 66 years.
Bill was an avid sailor, winning the National Butterfly double handed championships
in 1977. To the very end, Bill would have binoculars in hand with the sailing roster to see how the local races were progressing.
As the first president of the Lake Lotawana Recreation Association, (now Lake Lotawana Parks and Recreation) Bill and Midge were instrumental in the construction of the lake tennis courts inside gate 1.
Midge Robison passed way in 1979 and Bill remarried in 1980 to Christina who passed on in 2011.
Bill was a long time loyal member of the Kansas City Breakfast Club. Whether he was volunteering for Lake Association duties, President of the Local
Water Board, Scout Master, Commodore of Missouri Yacht, or working at the Rotary youth camp, Bill was very giving of his time to both family and community.
He will be missed but his legacy of community volunteerism lives on.
Bill is survived by Susan Robison, Edward Robison (Barbara), Catherine McFadden (Michael), four grand children, Crystal Gould(Eric), Megan McFadden, Patrick McFadden(Megan), and Kelly McFadden and three great grandchildren, Zia Mai Gould, Quinn Peet Gould, and Connor McFadden.
A celebration of his life will be held at a time to be determined.
