William enlisted in the US Army in 1960, serving three years at Fort Benning, GA. In 1961 Bill and Judy married and began their family with the birth of two boys, William and Michael.
William loved participating in Boy Scouts from an early age. He made it his priority to be involved in all phases of mentoring and training young men, throughout his lifetime. He was so proud of his sons going through years of scouting and even ranking as scoutmasters.
His heart was so proud to be a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and he was given the rank of Medicine Man in later years. The friendships he made working with the local troop in Prairie Village lasted a lifetime. For over 50 years, he attended camp at Bartle Scout Reservation near Osceola, MO. This accomplished a true level of purpose for him.
William loved being outdoors and enjoyed weekends and vacations at his lake home. Especially, the many family weekends when grandchildren came from other states. He was able to travel to nearly all 48 states and so loved sightseeing and history of our country. William felt blessed by watching his family grow and their many accomplishments, this was William's true joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joyce.
He was a member of Leawood Presbyterian Church, Leawood, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to this church.
