Walter was preceded in death by the love of his life, Shirley V. Trueblood in September of 2018 and is survived by his three children, Christine A. Trueblood-Lockett, Walter D. Trueblood, IV, and Elizabeth Neidecker, his niece, his grandchildren, his great-grandson, and his great-niece and great-nephews.
Walter was born in Texas but lived the majority of his life in the Kansas City area. He graduated from Westport High School and then attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he obtained his engineering degree. Following his graduation from Mizzou, where he played quarterback for the GREAT Missouri Tigers, he went to work as a mechanical engineer for Black and Veatch Engineering. He married his soulmate, Shirley V. Etherton, in 1959 and soon started his family. Walter and Shirley, both, were very active at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church for many years, and then remained active at Grace Covenant till shortly before Shirley’s death. Walter passed on his love for the Lord to his children and he was a role model for being both a father and a husband. He leaves his family and his friends with many amazing memories and although he will be greatly missed, he is finally home with the Lord AND with his partner, Shirley!
A graveside service for Walter will be held Friday, December 6, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Mount Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131.
