I first met Wade in 1970. We were college room-mates for most of our time at the University of Arizona. We knew we had a connection, our birthdays being only three days apart (mine on December 29). I started out with a motorcycle and then got a VW Beetle. He started out with a Beetle and then got a motorcycle. He doubled-dated with me, when I took my wife-to-be, Carol, on our first date. We enjoyed travel with our college friends, including Mexico. I got to visit him at his parents’ home in Shawnee Mission. He visited my parents in Tucson and when they were living in Little Rock. And he was my best man at our wedding in Philadelphia. Carol and I will miss his always cheerful smile and infectious laugh, but we will cherish all the good memories.  

Dear Mary, Sarah, Emily, Rachel and family:  Our family, our friends - the people we love, work with, live next to and encounter in our everyday activities, are threads.  Those threads, woven together, create the tapestry of our lives.  Wade weaved many golden threads in your lives just as you weaved many golden threads in his life.  He was so proud of each of you and all of you. He lit up just talking about each of you and the joy you gave him with the gift of being a caregiver for the grandkids.  He will continue to live on as you honor him by living life to the fullest every day, just as he did; and as you pass the blessing, memories and legacy of his golden threads to others in your life journeys.  

In the process of gaining a heavenly angel to watch over us, we’ve lost our family historian/genealogist, story teller and engaging conversationalist. What a reunion he must be having with all those who made the journey ahead of him.  He loved you all so much and was so very proud of you.  May the blessing of many memory maker moments you shared bring you comfort in the days ahead.  You all remain surrounded with a circle of love and caring from many family and friends, including us.  You now have gained another personal angel to watch over you.  

We pray that today and everyday, you will able to feel his presence smiling down upon you from heaven above. May his angel wings softly and gently tickle your hearts and faces with warm memories and smiles.
