She was born May 24, 1932 to Charles Henry and Adria Leola (Harris) Tiedt in St. Joseph, MO.
She attended Humboldt Grade School. She spent part of her first year of high school living in Bates City, MO, helping her aunt and uncle on their farm. She graduated from Lafayette High School in St. Joseph, MO in 1950 with honors. She was awarded college scholarships but was unable to attend.
Louise worked at the local drug store in St. Joseph, then moved to Kansas City, MO and married Fred Schmidt in 1951, who she had 4 children with: Susan, Larry, Judy & Nancy. She later married the love of her life, Ronald H. Woody on November 18, 1961 and gained 3 children: Linda, Maxi and Ron.
She was a stay at home mom running a daycare out of her home, in Overland Park KS. Later moving to Kansas City, MO in 1972, working, as needed, with her husband at North Hills Linoleum & Tile, which they owned with their friends Joe & Virginia Bushyager. In 1980 Louise & Ron established Woody's Carpets in Raytown, MO, were she was the office manager. They retired in 1990. They owned a house at the Lake of the Ozarks from 1974-2012. Great memories were made there.
Louise loved sewing for her children, especially matching outfits. Making stuffed animals, cabbage patch and Michael Jackson dolls for the grandkids. She enjoyed bowling, playing poker, pinochle and bridge. She was great at cooking wild game, cakes, pies and cookies. She was an avid book reader. She loved watching the Royals, Kansas City Chiefs & college football. Louise loved traveling, going to the horse and dog races. She truly loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Holidays were her special time. Christmas & Easter were her favorites.
Louise was preceded in death by her mother and father, Husband Ronald, son Larry Schmidt , daughter Nancy McCurdy, grandson Benjamin R. Tomlin, her great granddaughter, Julia Linn Seese. Son-in-law, Frank Gile. Her Sisters, Doris Tiedt , Wilma Jean Palmer Trosper, Dorothy Begley, and her brothers, Carl W. Tiedt, Charles R Tiedt, & Irvin Dutton.
She is survived by her Brother, Norman "Jerry" Tiedt, children: Susan Kendig (Andy), Judy Joiner (Wray), Linda Gerding (Mike), Maxi Gile, Ron Woody ll. 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild. Many nieces and nephews that she greatly loved.
Visitation and service for Louise will be June 10, 2024 at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Boulevard, KCMO 64133. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00am. Service will be 10:00-11:00am. With graveside following the service.
