Vera Archette Smotherman, the daughter of Archie and Chrystal Holden was born on June 11, 1934 in Haver Montana. She spent her early childhood near and graduated from high school in Mountain View, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Don Smotherman on July 6, 1956. Don preceded her in death on October 1, 1996. They had two daughters, Shari Smotherman and Kembra Eubank. Kembra and her husband David had three children, Wyatt, who died at infancy, Jesse and Spencer. She also leaves her sister Dixie West of Lone Jack, Missouri.
Arch trained to become a registered nurse and then worked as supervisor of the operating rooms at the Kansas City General Hospital, now known as Truman Medical Center until her first daughter was born. She then became a full-time homemaker and volunteered at the girls’ schools and in Campfire Girls. After her son-in-law’s death, she and Shari moved to Pleasant Hill with Kembra and the boys. Together they made a home and raised the boys.
Her favorite thing to do was tending to her flowers and lawn. As she grew older, she spent many happy hours in her recliner holding her cat, Snowball.
Arch passed on June 6, 2020, in the family home surrounded by her loved ones. Arch will be missed by her family and all who knew her.
