Tracy Lynne King Rucker, 48, of Grandview, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2015, at St. Joseph Hospital in south Kansas City, Missouri. Tracy had courageously lived with the complications of failing kidneys for almost 30 years.
Born September 4, 1967 in Kansas City, Missouri to Sammie Ray King and the late Gerald “Jerry” King. Tracy was educated in the public schools within both the Kansas City and the Hickman Mills school districts. She graduated from Ruskin High School in the Class of 1985 and immediately began a career with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). During her 30-year IRS career, Tracy worked in several administrative roles and positions and had been performing the duties of Taxpayer Advocate for the last 15 years, where she received several Performance Awards in recognition and appreciation of superior effort, dedication and personal contributions. While working for the IRS, she also attended Avila University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1994. In June 2001, Tracy married Thomas Duvel Rucker and they became affectionately known, by family members and friends, as TNT (Tracy & Thomas). After her marriage, she joined the Concord Fortress of Hope Church and has been a faithful member ever since. She was an avid reader and a loyal fan of the KC Chiefs, the LA Lakers and a 2-year old Yorkshire dog named Oscar.
During Tracy’s entire adult life, she has lived with the complication of failing kidneys and has undergone several kidney transplants and years of dialysis treatment. Through it all, she remained courageous and an inspiration to all to the end. In fact, less than a month ago, Tracy made a personal commitment to help the National Kidney Foundation raise funds by forming a team, the Fantastic Rucker Walkers, and walking two miles in the Annual Kidney Walk fundraiser at UMKC. Inspired by her courage and commitment, Tracy was joined in her walk by family members and friends locally and in Denver, Colorado and in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Tracy was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father Gerald “Jerry” King; and half-brother Bernie Richardson. She is survived by her husband Thomas Rucker, Grandview and two stepsons Tyrone and Jordan Rucker; her mother Sammie Ray King, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; her brother Anthony King, Kansas City, Missouri; half-brother Rick McNack; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, in-laws and friends.
