When Toni was in 5th grade, her family bought farmland in Ogden, Iowa, where she spent her childhood. During high school, she played basketball, and later decided that she wanted to pursue a college education in nursing. While in college, Toni learned to play bridge, which became a lifelong hobby that she excelled at. Because of Toni's decision to further her education, her 5 younger siblings, Dodie, Arabelle, Helene, Cora, and Dale, were all inspired to continue their education beyond high school.
While Toni was working on completing her nursing degree, she met Lem Jones while on a blind date at a basketball game at the University of Iowa. In August of 1950, Toni graduated from college. Shortly after, on December 28, 1951, Lem and Toni married. While Lem was finishing his law schooling, Toni worked as a nurse at the University of Iowa Hospital. The following summer, the couple moved to Kansas City where Lem started his law practice. Toni then began working at St. Luke's on the Plaza. She continued working as a charge nurse even through the birth of her son, David. Four years after having David, Toni and Lem welcomed Marcia.
Toni was introduced to golf by her father-in-law as an activity to do with both of them. Toni gained a love for golf, and she went on to win several club championships, and won her flight in Missouri State Amateur Competition. She was involved in the local USGA, sloping golf courses in the Kansas City area. She also served as the president of the Women's Golf Association. Toni was a member of the Philharmonic League, and served as its president. When Marcia was in high school, Toni decided to go back to work part-time as a nurse at Research Medical Center. She also served on the Women's Auxiliary at Research Medical Center.
Preceding her in death were Toni's parents, Tony and Loretta Boes, and her five siblings, Dodie, Arabelle, Helene, Cora, and Dale.
Surviving Toni are her children, David and Marcia Jones, her brother-in-law JP Jones and his wife Martha, and several nieces and nephews.
