Thomas Edward Thompson, 79, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on October 11, 2022. He was born December 15, 1942 to Paul and Geraldine (Murphy) Thompson. Tom played baseball, basketball, football, tennis, and fast pitch softball. He was in student government and graduated from East High School as an honor student in 1961.
Tom graduated from Central Missouri State College in 1965 and from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 1968 where he won the Mock Trial Award. Tom practiced law for over 50 years defending his clients’ rights in court, becoming a senior counselor in law with the Missouri Bar Association.
Never one to sit still, Tom loved to travel, captain his own sailboat, play and watch all kinds of sports, and go to movies and plays. He enjoyed history and visiting battlefields. He also loved being a father and grandfather and taking his kids with him wherever he went. Tom was a very positive person who lived life to the fullest, was almost always happy and ready for the next adventure. The only time he was down was when he had to figure taxes. He will be greatly missed.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and brother Terry Thompson. He is survived by his wife Donna (Havlic) Thompson, sons Tyler and Tad, daughter-in-law Esther Queen, grandson Alexander, and many cousins.
Visitation will be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home at 1pm, October 24th, a Celebration of Life Service at 2pm followed by burial. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to KC Pet Project.
