Thomas Jerome (Jerry) Carr passed away March 28, 2014, after a battle with lung cancer. Born on May 11, 1941 to John and Mary (Mason) Carr in Roanoke, VA, he grew up in Wapakoneta, Ohio, attended St. Joseph Elementary and High School, St. Joseph College and Wright State University. Jerry served in the security service with the USAF, stationed in Okinawa.
He served as Plant Manager for Hobart Corporation, White Consolidated Industries and Fedders Corporation. He also worked in sales and distribution for Sara Lee Baking Co. Jerry volunteered at St Patrick School as a basketball coach, choir member and served as School Board President. He was very proud to have become a member of the Knights of the 4th degree.
Surviving Jerry are Doris (Topp) Carr, his spouse of 51 years, along with their children, Michael (Pam), Cathie (Barry) Grant, Angie, (Jimmy) Robinett and Sarah Kever, fiance’ Brian Wright, grandchildren, Makayla and Grace Carr, Alexandra, Nicole and Mark Grant, Mason and Madyson Kever, Tiffini, Meghann and Brett Robinett, and great grandson, Evan Hulshof. Also surviving are his two brothers, John (Dixie) of Dayton, OH and Jim of Kansas City, MO.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 2 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, with the rosary being recited at 4:00 at St Patrick Catholic Church, 1357 NE 42nd Terrace, Kansas City. The funeral mass will be Thursday April 3 at 10:00 AM, also at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial following at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
