Theresa was born in England on March 17, 1924, the youngest of thirteen siblings. She met her husband Alfred during World War II. Alfred was stationed in England with the United States Army Air Corps, flying in bombers and refuelers. He was a Prisoner Of War for fourteen months, then the war ended and they were married on June 14, 1945.
Theresa received her citizenship after coming to the United States. Her and Alfred lived on various bases until he retired from the service in in 1967. She was loved by many in her lifetime. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, crocheting, cooking and baking.
Theresa lived most of her life taking care of her children and then grandchildren. She was a nanny to Jacky Rae until she reached school age. After her husband passed away she lived in Tyler, Texas for about ten years where her son Roland is, but she returned to Kansas City about four years ago when her health changed. Everyone loved having her back close to home.
She spent her last two years at the Wilshire Nursing Home where she gathered many new friends, making a huge impression on many of the staff and residents. Grace Hospice became a big part of her last several months. They were such a blessing to have, taking loving care of her until her last breath. No words can describe how wonderful they were to her and our family.
Theresa was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Lewis. She is survived by her children; Roland Brawner (Charlotte), Connie Twyman (Jesse), and Teri Nelson (Ron Solnosky), grandchildren; Joann Brawner, Carrie Smith, Wendy Casey, Haley Kirkpatrick, Mallory McMullin, Joseph Boyles, Craig Nelson Jr., Brett Nelson, Keegan Solnosky, Shane Solnosky, and Kylie Solnosky, great-grandchildren; Josh, Zack, Sarah, Shelby, Just, Mylene, Adalyn, Lucca, and Colton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Hospice, 9233 Ward Pkwy #201, Kansas City, Missouri 64114, or the Alzheimer’s Association, 38446 West 75th Street, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208.
If you could see where I am standing,
If you could see the sights I see,
If you could see the one who holds me,
You would not cry for me.
