Terry Drake Singleton passed away on December 4, 2022 at his home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Terry was preceded in death by his wife of eight years, Aurelia E. Cole-Singleton; his parents, Cleveland O. Singleton and Essie Haskin Singleton; and his brother, Reginald Singleton.
Terry was born on December 3, 1959 in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Southeast High School. He attended the DeVry University of Kansas City, Missouri and earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree. Terry served honorably in the United States Army for over 9 years and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. He was employed at Hillshire Brands KC/Tyson Foods, Inc. and worked as a Maintenance Generalist. Terry truly loved the Lord! He was a long-time member of Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church.
As a child, Terry enjoyed taking gadgets apart big or small and was fascinated in his efforts of trying to put them back together. As an adult, his love of tinkering with gadgets and cars became a lifelong and therapeutic hobby, which he did so well. He will be remembered by giving his tight and affectionate bear hugs, boisterous personality, and a true gift of storytelling…whether factual or exaggerations!
He is survived by his children: Chiquita Singleton, Kansas City, Missouri and Terrell Singleton (Florence “Shine”) of Anchorage, Alaska. Grandchildren: Gionni, Bellami, Victoria “Noelle”, and Aaliyah. One brother: Helston (Jennifer) Singleton of Kansas City, Missouri and two sisters: Deborah (Carzell “Carl”) Thomas of Mansfield, Texas and Yvette Singleton-Robinson of Arlington, Texas. He is also survived by three beautiful aunts, several nephews, a niece, a host of beloved cousins, and a multitude of friends.
The memorial service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home located at 10507 Holmes Road; Kansas City, Missouri 64131 (www.MtMoriah.net). The memorial service will be held from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.
