peacefully in his home, in the company of his loving wife of 63 years and family. Simon
was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 20, 1927. He was married to Catalina Guerrero on
August 23, 1947 and had three children. Simon was employed by Williams Meat Company
for over 25 years, and then later as a banquet waiter at Westin Crown Center, where he retired.
He was also a musician with the J-5 Band and with Chito and the Latiniers. Simon is survived by his
loving wife, Catalina, and his children, Sylvia Urbina, Rita (Nick Jr.) Hernandez, Mario (Delphina) Urbina.
Simon had five grandchildren, Lisa (Tony) Moran, Victor G. Vasquez, Jr., Cassandra (Joe) Urbina,
Rachel (Leeroy) Davila, Mario Urbina Jr. He had eleven great –grandchildren, Anthony, Jose, Domnic,
Hannah, Evelyn, Andy, Jacob, Matthew, Leeroy, Gabriella and Miah. He also leaves behind two sisters
and one brother, Juanita Diaz, Marina Cordero and Vincent Cordero, as well as many nieces and
nephews. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, great-grandpa, friend and will be
greatly missed. A visitation will be held on Monday December 13, 2010 at McGilley Midtown Chapel,
20 West Linwood Boulevard, Kansas City, Missouri 64111, from 4 - 8 p.m., where the rosary will be
prayed at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at All Saints (St. Joseph/St. Benedict) Church,
811 Vermont, Kansas City, Kansas 66101on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow the
Mass in Mount Calvary Cemetery & Chapel Mausoleum 1150 North 38th Street Kansas City, Kansas
66102.
