“Jan,” Shirley June (Janzen) Glasgow, 79, passed away June 12, 2011 at Research Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born June 27, 1931 in Lorraine, KS to Wilbert F. and Edna Janzen. She attended Lorraine Baptist Church and Blue Ridge Baptist Temple. After attending K-State she worked for SBC in Topeka, KS where she met her husband, Gerald Glasgow and married June 7, 1953. They moved to Kansas City, MO where they raised and enjoyed their family. She was involved in various activities for 25 years with the Hickman Mills School District including Chairman of the Teachers Aid Program at Johnson Elementary, Ruskin HS Librarian and the Attendance Clerk at Hickman Mills High School. She retired early to be able to enjoy more time with her family and grandchildren. She always had a sparkle in her eye and a smile on her face. She was a mother friends always admired. She loved to see others smile and laugh with her unique sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, her brother Leon (Mildred) Janzen, daughter Judy (Steven) Hall, daughter Linda Whited and son in-law Dan Whited, and son Dennis (Lori) Glasgow, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She will be deeply missed.
Services will be held at Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home at 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. Visitation will be Thursday, June 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 17.
