Shirley Lee Breeding

Shirley Lee Breeding was born April 7, 1939 and entered eternal life on August 26, 2012. She was born in Warsaw, Missouri to Lawrence and Opal Powell, who preceded her in death. She is survived by son Lonnie Breeding, III of Columbia, MO; and son and daughter-in-law Scott and Kimberly Breeding of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren Bailey and Brock Breeding, Kansas City, MO; and Lonnie Breeding, IV, Columbia, MO; sister and brother-in-law Louise and Lewis Grace, Kansas City, MO; and brother and sister-in-law Leslie and Martha Powell, Olathe, KS; niece and nephews, Lana Smarker, Larry and Jeff Grace and Stephen Powell.

In addition to her family, her next greatest joy was her love of art. Shirley began her professional career as an artist with Hallmark Cards. She went on to start a number of businesses with her late husband Lonnie Breeding, Jr., including a successful chain of women’s clothing stores. Shirley’s true legacy is her never ending love for her family. For those of us who were lucky enough to witness her beautiful soul, she will live on forever in our hearts.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home, 801 NW 108th Street, Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Interment will be at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home immediately following the celebration of life service. The family requests memorial contributions be directed to Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
