Sherry Lee Strickland

Sherry Lee Strickland, 58, of Edwardsville, KS, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 after a battle with breast cancer. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at McGilley State Line Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City Hospice House or Bikers for Babies.

Sherry was born July 16, 1958 in Kansas City, MO. She was loved and admired by everyone that met her. Her selfless nature made it possible for her to do the things she loved: help other people. Sherry enjoyed singing, dancing, gardening and spending time with her family. Fiesty, fun, loving and genuine are all great words to describe her. But if one word defined her, it would be strong. Her strength and will to fight has amazed us all and she fought to the very end. Sherry is loved dearly and will be truly missed.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Ann Strickland, her father, Raiford Hugh Strickland, and her sister, Annette Kay Strickland. Survivors include her daughters: Dana Hickman and Nena Hickman; two grandchildren: Brianna Hickman and Jeffery Hickman; two sisters: Rai Hammontree (Chris) and Toni Strickland; several nieces and great nieces and nephews; her significant other, Michael Whiles; and friends.
