

Sarah (Sally) A. Meehan of Leawood, KS passed away on December 6th, 2017. A visitation will be held between 6-8 pm on Friday, December 15th, 2017 at McGilley Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 10 am on December 16th, 2017 at Mount Olivet Cemetery with a funeral procession from McGilley Memorial Chapel to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the American Heart Association at donatenow.heart.org.
Sally was born on May 30th, 1925 in Des Moines, IA to parents Joseph and Rose (DeMarco) Salvaggio. She spent her childhood years in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Mount Carmel Academy in Wichita, KS. After high school, Sally began working for Sears, Roebuck Company in the payroll department, retiring in the 1990’s. In 1951 she married James (Jimmy) Meehan and had a son Kevin Meehan of Leawood, KS and a daughter Kelly Schnell (F. Robert) of Wetumpka, AL. Sally enjoyed gardening and crafts, but derived her greatest daily pleasure from spending time with friends, family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sally is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jimmy, brothers: Nicky and Sammy Salvaggio, sisters: Mary Sherrard and Jennie Greenway, and sisters-in-law: Dr. Mary Meehan and Sarah Meehan. Survivors include sisters: Anne Byrne of Houson, TX and Clara Zans (John) of Independence, MO. Grand-daughters: Jillian Carnes (JR) of Wetumpka, AL, Caitlin Meehan-Coover (Brad) of Overland Park, KS, and Carrie Meehan of Prairie Village, KS. Great grand-daughters: Hailey Williams, Isabella Carnes, Zoey Carnes, Katey Carnes and Ellie Coover. Sally loved all of her extended family as well and would never forget any of them, including close friends, surviving brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and all of their families.
