Sally was born May 31, 1940, in the small town of Lihue on the beautiful garden island of Kaua'i, Hawaii. She met the love of her life, Daniel Davila, on the island of Oahu and together they traveled the world while he served in the United States Air Force before settling in Grandview, Missouri, where they built a life centered on faith, family, and service.
In her early life, Sally was a flight attendant for the Hawaiian Airlines. She enjoyed playing volleyball and bowling and participated in many competitive leagues. She later served more than 25 years with the federal government as a civil servant for the Air Force, IRS, Marine Corps, USDA, and OPM, primarily as a Human Resource Specialist.
Sally was deeply committed to her faith and was an active member of Coronation of Our Lady Catholic Church for 45 years. She served as President of the Altar & Rosary Society, was a Eucharistic Minister, and, alongside her husband, dedicated over a decade to the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), guiding many on their spiritual journeys. She was a founding member of the Legion of Mary and a member of the Serra Club of Southeast Kansas City, Missouri, where she was dedicated to promoting and fostering religious vocations. She later joined the St. Sabina parish community led by her beloved Fr. Jeff Stephan. Beyond her church involvement, she was active in civic affairs, serving on the Cass County Democratic Committee and as a Belton City Planning Commissioner.
She was preceded in death by her birth mother Naomi Kauo; her adoptive parents, Nesedra Yunson and Adriano Yunson; her brothers, Silas Aqui, Arcadio Aqui and Joseph Yunson; sister, Naomi Wampler; her husband, Daniel Davila; and her son-in-law, Ronnie Brownlee. She is survived by her daughters Ruth, Denise, and Darlene (Roy), and her son Gerry. She is also survived by her thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as her beloved church family who walked with her on her journey to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, most especially “daughter #4” Julie Oswald, Twyla Stark, chosen sister Esther Sanders, Angel Taylor, Monsignor Murphy, Fr. Hansen, Fr. Haake, Fr. Stephan and Sisters Doris and Catarina.
Sally’s unwavering faith, kindness, and devotion to serving others will be deeply missed. She now rejoices in the presence of our Lord, reunited with her beloved Daniel.
