Ruth’s 89 years of life were marked by integrity, honesty, humility, service, kindness, love for others, and a heart of gold. She always did everything she could to help others in need anyway she could. Ruth had a special love in her heart for animals and always took care of the more helpless ones.
Ruth was married to John, the love of her life, for more than 40 years. She deeply loved her children, Sandra and Louis, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and relatives. She always enjoyed socializing with her friends, either on the phone or in person. Above all, Ruth affectionately called “Grandma Roo” or “Grammy,” trusted the Lord Jesus and will continue to inspire her loved ones to live a life of service and humility. One of her favorite sayings was, “Pray more, worry less.”
Ruth’s journey began on January 8, 1935 when she was born to Virgil and Mabel Neves in Kansas City, Kansas. She was blessed with hardworking, loving parents and a sister, Barbara Petrus, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving family: Sandra Oesch (Stephen) and Louis Sola (Lynn). She is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren.
After graduating from Shawnee Mission North High School, she was employed by Hallmark Cards, D.W. Newcomer's & Sons, and her final career was office manager for Hickory Farms. After her work career, she helped her husband, John, at Sola’s Tavern serving her famous tacos and deviled eggs. Ruth also enjoyed baking and cooking at home. She was an amazing baker, and family and friends looked forward to her amazing chocolate pies and potato salad.
Ruth’s family meant the world to her. Ruth and John were inseparable and shared an unbreakable bond. They enjoyed fishing trips to Crystal Lakes and Grand Lake and were avid Chiefs, Royals, and Mizzou fans. She was a longtime resident of a home in the old northeast section of Kansas City, and she was greatly respected by all of her neighbors.
