Ruth A. Kimmel

Ruth Ailee (Gilbert) Kimmel 90, of Kansas City, MO passed away Nov 18, 2023. She was born on August 12, 1933 at the family farm in Plum Grove near Oskaloosa, KS. She was the daughter of Ernest and Charlotte (Lottie White) Gilbert. Her siblings were Harold Gilbert, Dorothy (Gilbert) Funk and Esther (Gilbert) Gatchell. She later moved with her parents to McLouth, KS where she graduated from McLouth High School in 1951.

On December 25, 1950 Ruth married Richard Kimmel and upon his graduation from KU they moved to Houston, TX and Bartlesville, OK where Richard was employed by Phillips Chemical Company. Wanting to move closer to home Ruth convinced Richard to return to Kansas City where he was initially employed by Chemagro and eventually by the Bayer Corporation. After being a full time homemaker, Ruth was employed by Sears and Roebuck. After retirement, Ruth and Richard wintered in Florida and later south Texas and spent their summers traveling the country in their motorhome.

They were charter members of the St. Luke's Presbyterian Church later named Glen Haven Church. They were members there for over 60 years.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Richard on August 13, 2022. Ruth and Richard were the proud parents of four children, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren with two more on the way.

Ruth is survived by daughters Linda (James) Peters Olathe, KS, Debra (Ralph) Weant Blue Springs, MO, Janet (Scott) Arvidson Kansas City, MO, son David (Barbara) Kimmel Kansas City, MO, grandchildren Courtney Peters, Megan (Steve) Tedder, Dena Williams, Dustin (Faye) Weant, Ryan (Roxanne) Arvidson, Eric (Olivia) Arvidson, Hanna (Chris) Parrott, Kyle Kimmel, Addison Kimmel, great grandchildren Mia Williams, Iris Weant, Corbin Tedder, Reese Arvidson, baby girl Arvidson and baby boy Parrott.

Visitation will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home 6600 NE Antioch Rd Gladstone, MO 64119 on Monday November 27, 2023 from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be at Glen Haven Church 4301 NE Vivion Road Kansas City, MO 64119 on Tuesday November 28, 2023 at 11:00 am followed by a committal service at White Chapel Cemetery 6600 NE Antioch Rd Gladstone, MO 64119.
