Roy Lee Richardson, 89, Gladstone, MO, went to be with the Lord on September 6, 2014 with his daughter by his side. His wife, Hazel Richardson, preceded him in death after 60 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Bertha M. Davis-Havens and brothers, Wayne and Lloyd Richardson. Roy is survived by daughter, Denise (Dave) Wuthnow; 3 grandchildren, Ross, Laura and Kaitlin; brothers, Palmer, Floyd, Billy (Gloria); sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Sally (Guy) Coffman and Rosalind Richardson; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Roy was born outside Petty, Texas on January 1, 1925 to Virginia and Roy Richardson. Roy was the oldest son with an older sister and 5 younger brothers. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943 and served six years during World War II and afterward in Europe and the South Seas. Roy moved to Kansas City in 1950 to attend trade school and married Hazel later that year. He worked for Braniff Airlines and then the North Kansas City School District until retirement. Roy was a proud Texan even after living in Missouri almost 65 years. He became a Christian at age 62 and lived his faith. He was a charter member of Timothy Baptist Church and attended Chandler Baptist Church for the last several years, faithfully attending until his death. Roy enjoyed fishing, bowling, gardening, the Royals and especially being with his family. He was a positive man who would tell you he was “Outstanding” no matter the circumstances.

A visitation is scheduled from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the McGilley Antioch Chapel. The family extends a sincere thank you to NorthCare Hospice and Heritage Village who worked to make the last few months of his life comfortable.
