Rose Padilla, 87 of Kansas City, MO, died on March 27, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospice House. Visitation will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, April 6 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1310 Westport Rd., with Mass of Christian Burial following at 12:30. Masks and social distancing are required. Inurnment in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Rose was born near Guadalajara, Mexico on Sept. 14, 1933 to Leon and Maria Bañuelos. In 1951 she moved to Chanute, Kansas to live with her sister, Rosario. A year later, she met Joe Padilla who by chance came to live with his brother, Socorro, as well. Joe and Rose married in 1957 after Joe returned from military service in the Marine Corp. Rose gave birth to their only son, Mark, in 1958. Rose was proud to become a U.S. citizen in her 40s. After retiring from Research Hospital after 30 years of service, Rose volunteered at St. Luke’s Hospital where staff and patients adored her and nominated her “Volunteer of the Year” almost every year.
Rose lived to serve others. Her hobbies included cooking and baking cakes for all who crossed her path especially her enchiladas and carrot cakes. She would always put the needs of others first and all who crossed her path benefitted from her generous, kind, and loving spirit. Her tireless work ethic and quiet selfless integrity was an inspiration to all.
Rose is survived by her loving husband, Joe; son, Mark and his wife, Angela, who reside in Houston, TX.
