Ronald Eugene Doering, 77, of Independence, MO died peacefully in his home on February 21st, 2013 surrounded by his family. Visitation on Mon., Feb. 25th from 6-8pm with rosary at 7:30pm at St. Mark’s Catholic Church (3736 Lee’s Summit Rd., Indep.) Mass of Christian Burial 11am at the church on Tues. with entombment following in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Ron was born on July 22, 1935 in Indep., MO to Edward & Barbara Doering. Ron graduated from Rockhurst College in 1956 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree. He then honorably served in the U.S. Army where he earned the rank of Specialist 5. Ron married the love of his life, Carol Jean (CJ) on April 28, 1962; this year marked their 51st anniversary. He was a parishioner of St. Ann’s, Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary & St. Marks Parish. An avid Boy Scout leader, he was awarded both the Bronze Pelican & the St. George award for his dedication to the Boy Scouts. Ron had a long career as a purchasing agent working for Cook Paint, Pittman Manufacturing, Allied Signal & Kansas City Regional Council for Higher Education. Upon his retirement, in words only, Ron began to volunteer as a Docent at the Truman Presidential Library & the National Frontier Trails Museum. Recently he was recognized for his 1,197.5 hours of volunteer service at the Truman Library. Ron was preceded in death by his parents as well as his step-mother, Kathleen. He is survived by his sister, Francene Blessman; his wife, CJ; his sons, Christopher (Jean) and Nathan (Joey) & two grandsons Jacob & Elijah.
