Roger “Pete” Lynn Peterson, 67, Olathe, Kansas, died the evening of Saturday, January 2nd, 2010 at home. Born on February 26th, 1942, one of seven children, in Chetek, Wisconsin, Roger grew up on his family’s dairy farm embracing his Norwegian roots and developing an unsurpassed work ethic that continued throughout his life. He devoted 45 years of his life to the United States Marine Corps working his way up to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer-4 and serving in Vietnam twice. He continued to work for a division of Defense Finance and Accounting Service after retirement. Pete was a lover of nature, golf and sports, but what he loved the most was his adoring family. We will miss his strong, but gentle spirit and his kind heart. He will be forever remembered, loved and missed. He is survived by his wife, MaryoPeterson, of 41 years; his daughters Lynn Zarda and Gayle Lee; three sisters; two brothers and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a great niece and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Reinolt; brother, Duane Peterson; and infant daughter, Christine Renee. Funeral services, including Taps and a 21-gun salute, will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, at Mt. Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri, with a visitation from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Arrangements under the direction of Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, Kansas City, MO.
