Roger Maxwell Hermann, 69, Kansas City, Missouri, passed away January 5, 2012 at St. Joseph Medical Center. Visitation will begin at 1:30 followed by funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 620 E. Armour Boulevard., Kansas City, Missouri, 64109. Burial in Belton Cemetery, Belton, Missouri. Roger was born October 7, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of Paul G. and Josephine L. (Maxwell) Hermann. He attended SE High School, following his education he went to work at St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza in food service. He retired after 40 years of service. He was a lifelong member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. The church was the center of Roger’s life. If the doors were open he was there. He volunteered every Saturday taking care of anything that might be needed to prepare for the next day’s service: sharpening pencils, preparing the gifts for service, making sure the pastor had water, etc. Roger loved people, he loved to meet new people and it could truly be said of him that he never met a stranger. Roger is survived by his sister Joyce Vandegrift of Kansas City, MO; niece Paige Vandegrift; nephews A. Gregory, Scott E. and Geoffrey P. Vandegrift; eight grandnephews and one grandniece.
