He was preceded in death by his parents Pauline James Fisher Davidson and Paul Fisher. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janet Fisher.
Roger’s lifetime passion was model trains. Perhaps inspired by his father’s work for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Roger spent his early years mesmerized by the big steam trains chugging through his hometown of Crestline, Ohio. In addition to working on his own Standard Gauge model train layout, he volunteered at the Union Station Model Railroad for many years. He was also a founding member of the Heart of America chapter of the Train Collectors Association.
For the past seven years Roger has been a dedicated Shuttlecart volunteer at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art inviting people to take a ride in the Shuttlecart and talking to them about the art installations. Known for his sense of humor and easily recognized by his conductor’s hat, he made a point of asking the children to ride with him. No one was a stranger to Roger. With a smile on his face and a joke or two, he talked and laughed with everyone.
