Roberta was born on June 20, 1928 in Burlingame, Kansas where she went to elementary school. She graduated high school at Manual High in Kansas City. She married George on June 19, 1948 and the two of them had 5 children., married 51 years.
Roberta’s life was full. She and her husband built their own home in Blue Springs in the early 1960s. Roberta took care of her mother and then her husband in the latter years of their lives, determining to care for her family in her home.
Roberta loved to travel whether it was somewhere near or far she was always ready to go. She greatly enjoyed her children and wanted and stated only one regret at the end, that she would have worked less and spent more time with her children. She retired from Travomatic in Grain Valley.
She loved all her family at the First Christian Church of Blue Springs where she had been a member for over 50 years. She also loved her Red Hat group.
Her children remember her as always interested in their lives. She never missed decorating a grave of a loved one and always had a kind word for others. Roberta has numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved, along with many friends.
Preceded in death: Husband George Jay Bailey, Grandson Mark Andrew Bailey, two sons, Brian Dean and Jerald Lynn Bailey, and her mother, two sisters and one brother.
Surviving children: Daniel and Carolyn Bailey, Edward and Mary Bailey, and Candace Williams.
Besides her children, Roberta is survived by eight grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her brother Gerald Lamont.
