Robert "Skip" Williams

Robert (Skip) Edward Williams, 76, of Leawood, KS passed away at home on August 2, 2024. Skip was a native New Yorker, born and raised in Peekskill, NY. Skip served his country, joining the US Air Force, where he attained the rank of Sergeant, and acquired advanced training in engineering. Having served, he began his career in the telecommunications industry and was recognized for his long and dedicated service to Sprint in Overland Park. All during his life, Skip was the Go to Guy for his family and friends. Whenever there was a problem, technical or personal, Skip would help everyone build a solution. Skip was indeed a class act; who always thought of others before himself in all his deeds and actions. His sense of humor always kept everyone happy and laughing. Skip was also a great writer of notes and personal thoughts on greeting cards; he always made us all feel special.

Skip is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jeanne (Messer) Williams; daughter, Lindsay Brodie (Nate); son, Christopher and his three cherished grandchildren: Kylee, Brady and Luke Cook. Skip is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mary Anne Messer; brothers-in-law, Rick Messer, Rob Messer, and Jerry Sams; sisters-in-law, Jill Messer-Sams and Jennifer Messer; nephews, Jason Milks, Mitchell Sams; nieces, Melanie Sams, Megan Milks; and his cousins and many friends who have always shown him their love and support.

Skip is predeceased by his parents, Sidney and Marion Williams; sister, Kathy; brother, Arthur; and father-in-law, Sidney R. Messer.

Services will be held on Monday, August 12 at McGilley State Line Funeral Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO 64145. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a simple memorial service at 11:00 a.m.
