Robert (Bob) was born July 18, 1944 in Macon, MO to Virgil Edwin Lunsford and Helen Marie (Walker) Lunsford.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Adella Lunsford, one daughter Jennifer and her husband Bob Stumpff, and grandsons Connor and Thatcher of Overland Park, KS. Bob is also survived by his brother Bruce Lunsford of Independence, MO, sister and brother-in-law Sidna and Dusty Brown of Jefferson City, and many other loved family members.
Bob Lunsford graduated from Macon High School and earned a BS in Civil Engineering from Finley Engineering College in Kansas City. He enlisted in the US Army on June 4, 1968. He was serving in Dak To Vietnam when he was injured on June 3, 1969. He was awarded the Purple Heart along with multiple other commendations including the Veterans Medal at the 25th Annual Truman Birthday Luncheon.
Bob held many titles in his life, from soldier, engineer, husband, and father but his favorite role was being a Papa. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, especially his grandsons Connor and Thatcher. He enjoyed teaching Connor to fish and make pens, and attending various sporting events and band concerts for both boys.
Visitation is on Wednesday, July 26 from 5-7 pm at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO. Church service is Thursday, July 27 at 10 am at the Wesley Chapel of Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Avenue, Leawood, KS. Burial is on Thursday, July 27 at 1:30 pm at Leavenworth National Ceremony, 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, KS.
