Robert Foster Johnson, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, was born December 3, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas to Robert Davis Johnson, Jr. and Dorothy Jane Hatcher Johnson. He passed away on June 29, 2012. Visitation will be held 12 – 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 3 at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m.
He is survived by his children, Stephanie Amor (John), Jennifer Aubrey, Robert M. Johnson and his former wife, Marcia Johnson. His grandchildren are Max, Jake and Luke Davidson, Samuel and Grace Aubrey, and great-granddaughter, Gracelynn Davidson. He is also survived by his brothers, Benjamin and Joseph Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob graduated from Southeast High School, where he was a champion swimmer. He attended Central Missouri State University and additional classes at the University of Missouri. He was a veteran of the United States Army and attained the rank of E-5.
Bob was a Captain on the Raytown Fire Department, retiring after 32 years of service. He always had a business going on his days off from the fire department. He owned an asphalt paving company, was a successful real estate agent and owned two retail car lots. He built two of his homes, acting as the general contractor.
Bob was past president and treasurer of IAFF 1730. He was an active member in the Raytown Optimist Club and served on the Board of Directors. In addition, he was active in Y Indian Guides and his children’s sporting activities. Some of the family’s best memories were of the time spent at the family cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks.
He had a big heart and gave generously to anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by his family. Condolences may be offered at www.mtmoriah-freeman.com.
