We were so very saddend to hear of the loss of Richard "Ricky".  He was always such fun with a contagious smile and a kind soul. He will be dearly missed. Our prayers are with you at this time of great loss.

I met Richard in the 80's when I went to work for Butler.   He had a great sense of humor that he combined with rolling of his eyes to get your attention.    It was always a daily treat to banter with him.

Employed with Butler Manufacturing, I encountered Richard Sanchez many times at both the BMA Tower offices and the Genessee WHQ offices.  I always enjoyed my interactions and conversations with Richard.  Surely, I was blessed with knowing him and will miss him.

I can't think of a nicer person than Richard.  I worked with him at Butler for 11 years and he always had a smile on his face, unless I said something about sports he did not like ;)  Richard had an amazing ability to make you feel like family, he was a warm and inviting person. Richard was one of the great personalities that made Butler so special. He always had a smile and a little time to kid around or (in my case) tease me. I loved that Richard saw every person at Butler through the same eyes, treating us all equally and caring about us all equally. He was probably the person who had the biggest impact on the positive culture we all enjoyed so much, and no doubt continue to enjoy. He will be sorely missed, no doubt. My thoughts are with his family in this difficult time.

The first time I met Richard, we all worked in the BMA tower. As I walked to he area, I see Richard seating at his desk with a  giant stuffed Pink Panther overlooking him, Richard Sales and Tom P. That was the craziest funniest trio I've ever had the pleasure ever meeting. Richard will be sorely be mist. May God watch over his family in this time of need, God Bless.

Mr. Richard was one of my favorite people here at BlueScope/BBNA. He was one of the funniest people I'd met here and we'd often share a laugh/warm greeting when in passing. Like others have said, he always kept a smile on his face.  It was a pleasure knowing him and he is surely missed. My condolences to the family and hosts of loved ones. May God's strength  and comfort be with you all at this time.

Richard always, always had a smile on his face! His office sat right in the front of his department, whenever I needed anything (even if I got lost on who could help me), he was always there to help. He was so funny, and we never missed a chance to share a laugh. He never met a stranger, treated everyone like family, and he will truly be missed. My sincere condolences to his family. Richard and I have known each other for about 40 years, working for Butler.  He was funny, kind, supportive, and a well liked person.  He never met a person he didn't like. He would come back to my area to hide out as he put it, even though he would bring us work,  we would talk about "old" Butler and memories of years ago.

Richard will be truly missed.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.  


My conversations would always start with good day MR. Sanchez how are you? He would respond the same to me. It was always a joking formal start to our conversation is what I remember the most. Although 99.9% of my interactions with Richard were either phone call or email, Richard was always very helpful and would go out of his way to assist. After working with Richard for 20 plus years his humor and kindness will be missed dearly.

I knew Richard as a helpful resource at Butler. Although I never met him in person, he supported me researching  Butler buildings. He was always funny, professional and so helpful. I'm sorry for your loss but I'm sure heaven is grateful for his presence. 


Richard always had a warm smile and friendly greeting for everyone in the office. While we didn’t cross paths often, when we did, he always had a story to share or a laugh to give. He was special, and he will be missed. I hope his family and friends can find strength and peace during this difficult time. So many of us our thinking of you!

A longtime VP Builder came to the office to discuss a project.  He also happened to be a hard core Mizzou grad.  He was greeted in the foyer by a big Butler sign.  As I was walking him through the office he exclaimed "first Butler and then this" as he pointed to the outside of Richard's office which was plastered with KU posters.  

Richard will be sorely missed!



Praying for Richard's family. I'll miss seeing his smile and KU flags, my Alma Mater, flying at our BlueScope office. 

Richard and I always shared "jabs" regarding his office decor.  Being a Mizzou grad, I often let him know that his KU decorations were hard on my eyes, to which he would fire back with a "Rock Chalk, Jayhawk!"  He was always willing to help when we needed records from previous projects and worked hard until they were located.  His smile and laugh will be greatly missed.  Rest in peace my friend! I met Richard working at Butler and he was always someone who would lend a hand or answer a question with a smile. One of my favorite memories is from a long time back when Richard had a box of women's long sleeve, turtleneck shirts he was selling. I bought teal and maroon for some ridiculously low amount and still have them and wear them both! I will miss seeing him and am sincerely sorry for your loss. May his family find joy and peace in the days to come sharing their many memories of Richard.

Richard Santana Sanchez, my Bro! When I met Richard at Butler he worked in the print room with Ralph and John. He was a good friend and we hung out at work and away from work. We would talk a lot of “stuff” but it was always in fun! We grew up together at Butler and were always into something! My sincere condolences go out to his family and friends. We will all miss him very much. 

Richard was a friend to everyone at Butler, and I always enjoyed seeing his friendly smile and having him give me a bit of trouble.  His passing is a great loss to us all, and we will miss him tremendously.  We are so thankful and fortunate for the time that we had with Richard.
