Richard Lloyd Winders (Rick), 65, of Overland Park, KS and Oro Valley, AZ passed away April 6, 2015. Rick was born July 4, 1949 in Lawrence, KS. He attended Stanley High School (#18 Quarterback) and graduated from Pittsburg State University and was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. He worked for North KC Development Co. out of college and went on to own several successful fireworks construction and restaurant enterprises.
Rick loved to travel with his wife Dala, play golf with his friends and spend time with his family. He always had a funny story and unique way of saying things that kept his wife, friends and family entertained. Rick Winders always had a good time.
Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Winders and his sister Carolyn Rose. He is survived by his wife Dala Winders; five children, Ashley Winders, Kyle Winders and wife Janelle, Katie Clausen and husband Eric, Kelsey Jantsch and Mack Jantsch; three grandchildren he adored, Taylor, Lillie and Nash; his father Ernest Winders, Jr; a sister Linda Gustin and his brother Larry Winders. He also leaves many in-laws, nieces and nephews which he loved dearly.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 10th, 11:30 a.m., at Queen of the Holy Rosary Wea Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., prior to the Mass. Private family burial in Wea Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rick's name may be made to Homes from the Heart, 6363 College Blvd., Suite 400, Overland Park, KS 66211.
