Richard was born on January 11, 1934 in Glendale, Missouri.
He married his high school sweetheart, and best friend, Betty Myers in 1953. They had five children and were happily married for 65 years. Richard was a faithful, loving, protective husband, father, and grandfather.
He proudly served his country for 23 years in the United States Air Force as an Air Specialist.
Richard loved life. His joy was contagious and it radiated to everyone he encountered. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, friends, and above all, serving his loving God.
Richard is survived by his four children: Lucinda Spencer, Lori Goppert, Richard B Peterson, Susan Greenway, Grandchildren: Jeremy Spencer, Kristina Baxter, Stephanie Erickson, Megan Rainey, Katie Goppert, Amy Goppert, Markie Campfield, Charlijean Greenway, and 15 great grandchildren.
A visitation for Richard will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home (7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133) with the Funeral Service beginning at 10:00 AM. A Graveside Service will occur at 1:30 PM at Fort Riley Post Cemetery (191 Huebner Rd, Fort Riley, KS 66442).
