RICHARD E. LONG Richard Eugene Long, 73, entered into the Lord's presence on February 6, 2017 in Raytown, Missouri. He was born on November 6, 1943 in Los Angeles, California and moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he grew up. He graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri and also married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie J. Woolery in 1961. They celebrated over 55 years of marriage. He went to work for Kansas City Power & Light in 1962 where he worked for over 36 years before retiring as a right-of-way agent in the real estate department in 1998. Richard was a respected member of the Kansas City Barbeque Society and was one of the early pioneers in BBQ judging where he was certified as judge #77 and ultimately became a certified master judge. KCBS has certified 57,000 judges with about 14,000 currently active and of that only a little over 1,400 are certified master judges. He was an avid table tennis player in his younger days and won several awards and competitions. Richard is survived by his wife Bonnie (Woolery) Long of Raytown, Missouri. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Jim Larkin of Kansas City, Kansas; his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Linda Long of Leawood, Kansas; and son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kristina Long of Lee's Summit, Missouri. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Blue Ridge Bible Church, 8524 Blue Ridge Boulevard, Kansas City, Missouri, 64138 at 10:00am, Friday, February 10, 2017 with service to follow at 11:00am. His earthly body will be laid to rest at Forest Hill & Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri.
