Richard E.Gardner,64,passed away May 25,2017 following a brave battle with brain cancer.He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Debbie, their loving daughter Jolynn Richelle Beltz, and grandson Ryder.He also is survived by his sister Sharon Greer, as well as many loving in laws, nephews and a niece. His most adoring friend was his canine"son" Eddie, who was never far from his side. Richard was a life long resident of Kansas City, and enjoyed many wonderful memories of special times with family and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil L. and Vera D. Gardner. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1972, then began a career as a specialty vehicular technician with the Kansas City Police Department, retiring after 32 years. He enjoyed many challenging and unique experiences there,and received many commendations for his work ethic and skills. Richard enjoyed travel, especially beach vacations, and was a model railroad enthusiast. He especially enjoyed outside activities, particularly yard work, and float trips with his best friend Gary Lilly. He also enjoyed collecting classic rock music and attending concerts. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Raytown. He will be greatly missed by many who loved him and admired his drive and determination to give life his best effort.
