Richard (Dick) Armin Bueker, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the age of 78.
Dick was born to parents Armin H. and Elizabeth Clark Bueker on September 21, 1939 in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Dick attended Marshall High School in Marshall, Missouri and married his longtime sweetheart Beverly in 1962. He earned his Bachelor of Science in 1962 from Missouri Valley College, Marshall, Missouri and went on to earn his Masters of Education in 1966 from the University of Missouri, Columbia. He started his career in Education while teaching Science & Math at Plymouth Junior High School in St. Louis County and later moved his wife and two young boys to Kansas City, Missouri in 1970 to spend the next 22 years as an Administrator for the Center School District.
After being diagnosed with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (genetic emphysema) in 1989 he became a true advocate of the condition. After retirement from Education he served as a Coordinator for AlphaNet and then served 9 years on the AlphaNet Board of Directors. He was also President / Leader for the Midwest Chapter of Alpha-1 support group for 17 years. Dick was an active member of St. Peters United Church of Christ until its’ recent closure where lifelong friendships were made.
Dick is survived by his wife, Beverly (Bev) Joy Powers Bueker of 55+ years of marriage, sons R. Gregory of Bend, OR with wife Catherine and children Bergen & Ty and son Jeffrey P. of Atlanta, GA with wife Lisa and children Brooklyn & Madison, brother Robert C. of Bowling Green, KY and his family and numerous extended family.
Dick most enjoyed the companionship of his wife Bev, summers in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and the trout rivers of South Central Missouri. But his real pride & joy was travel excursions with Bev, sons, daughters-in-law and his four grandchildren.
A Visitation will take place from 1:30 to 2:30pm with a Celebration of Life at 2:30pm on Sunday, February 18 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri
