Richard “Dick” “Sonny” Baylie Sr. passed away into the arms of our heavenly father on May 1, 2015. He was born in Kansas City, MO on July 26, 1935. He started his first job in 1950 at Milgram’s and made a lifelong career in the grocery store business. He graduated from East High School in 1953. He was an avid fan of the Chiefs, Royals, Kansas City Hockey and Mizzou. He passed his passion for sports on to his family. He loved coaching little league. He also enjoyed playing golf, cards, horse racing, as well as, traveling, but his favorite past time was being with his family. He was always at his children and grandchildren’s sports and activities, cheering them on. He was preceded in death by his mother Florence, brother Ed, sons Rick and Mike and son in law Mike Casey. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Penny, his sister Twila (Lee) Bray, his daughter Patti Casey, son Ken (Kathleen), daughter Tiffany (Dan) Fatino, grandchildren Tony, Alex, Garrett and Makenna Baylie, Kyle and Steven (Deanna) Casey, Elliott and Sam Fatino, great grandchildren Amanda, Aaron and Claire Baylie, He touched many lives and leaves a host of friends including former wife and good friend Mary Baylie, close long time friends JB Todd, Ray Simpson, Phil Payne and his beloved dog Harah. Thank you to the Centerpoint Hospital staff and a very special appreciation to Dr. Riseman and the nurses and care partners at Kansas City Hospice House for their loving and compassionate care. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Floral Hills, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, KCMO 64133, from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral mass service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 10017 E. 36th Terr, Independence, MO 64052, at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s name to Kansas City Hospice House at kansascityhospicehouse.org or the Kansas City Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
