Rebecca Zuniga Rodriguez died peacefully, surrounded by her family, at KC Hospice House on July 24th at the age of 92. Rebecca was born on August 27, 1924 in Kansas City, Kansas to Cayetano and Librada “Mejia” Zuniga. She married Jesse G. Rodriguez on May 17, 1944, in Mitchell, NE. Over a period of 10 years, the couple welcomed 5 boys into their home. Her children will always remember her as a kind and gentle mother who supported them in everything.
Rebecca enjoyed a career at Sunshine Biscuits for 24 years. Later she would go on to earn a license in Cosmetology. She loved doing hair for friends and family from the little shop in her basement. Rebecca was also an active volunteer at the Belton Grade School. Rebecca loved crocheting, gardening, and of course, a good garage sale!
Rebecca is survived by her brother, David Correa (Joanne); her sons, Jesse Jr., John (Joyce), Paul (Maxine), James (Debbie), David (Nicki); and her granddaughter, Rebecca of the home; 14 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse; and siblings, Joe (Louise), John (Ruby), Paul (Carmen), Aurora (Peter), Fred (Romona), Hope, Helen; and grandson, Brian Rodriguez.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Saint Sabina Catholic Church at 700 Trevis Avenue, Belton, MO 64012. Services will be on Friday, July 28, 2017 as follows: Visitation at 10:00 AM, Mass at 11:00 AM, followed immediately by burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery at 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO 64138.
