Born on June 21, 1944 in Topeka, KS. Rebecca was an artist, she saw the world through rose colored glasses. An eternal optimist, she was always glad to offer a kind word and her advice. She brought art in the world with her photographs, drawings, and paintings. She then fostered that love of art in her children and grandchildren. Her oldest son Phillip, was even enrolled in University art classes while still in elementary school. She saw his natural talent and nurtured it.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother she and her husband Buddy spent many years raising a family and building a beautiful life for themselves as well as their children and grandchildren. They worked together in real estate for many years, started their own business and they even built their own dream home from the ground up.
Nature was her refuge. She loved all plants and animals and spent years raising animals, rehabilitating wildlife, and gardening. She taught us never to kill spiders and snakes because they were great for the ecosystem and meant us no harm. That kindness allowed us to love all creatures regardless of how they look or their reputation. She loved her dogs, horses, and a great variety of pets she cared for over the years.
Rebecca was adored by all who knew her. She was known as a generous, trustworthy and kindhearted soul by everybody she met. She served on the Vining, KS city council for a number of years and was an avid member of the Art Buffs social club. She had a great variety of occupations over the years including; photography for the newspaper, real estate agent, police dispatcher, veterinary receptionist. She was handy with her toolkit, a fantastic gardener, and extremely well-read. She is held deeply in our hearts and will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to cross her path.
She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth Hansen Gobel, father J. Howard Rusco, sister Diana Rusco Peavy, husband (Buddy) Ewell Stokes Oglesby Jr. and son Scott Oglesby.
