

Ralph Russell Wilkinson, age 81, died May 10, 2011 at Kansas City Hospice House. He was a retired biochemistry educator and toxicologist. He was born February 20, 1930 in Portland, Oregon, son of Tracy Chandler and LaVern Russell Wilkinson. He married Evelyn Marie Wickman on August 5, 1956. He graduated from Reed College 1956 (BA), University of Oregon 1962 (PhD), University of Missouri, Kansas City 1974. Mr. Wilkinson was a research chemist at the VA Hospital, Kansas City, MO 1973-1974, research chemist Midwest Research Inst., Kansas City 1975-1984, Professor Rockhurst College, KC 1985-1986, Cleveland Chiropractic College, KC 1987-1999, Professor Emeritus 1999. He consulted in biochemistry toxicology-enviromental impact, technical assessment, KC 1984; author (book) ‘Neurotoxins and Neurobiological Function’ 1987, contributed articles to professional journals. He was a member of Southtown Council, Kansas City, MO1969; Spina Bifida Association, KC 1989; National Science Foundation Fellow 1959-1960; American Chemical Society and Sigma Xi Association. In retirement he worked occasionally as a tour guide at the Kemper Museum of Modern Art. He is survived by his wife Evelyn. Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by celebration of life at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery South.
