A visitation is scheduled from 6-8 PM Saturday, April 17th at the McGilley Antioch Chapel 3325 NE Vivion Rd, Kansas City, MO 64119. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 18th at the McGilley Antioch Chapel with burial following in White Chapel Cemetery, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119.
Ralph was born October 23, 1953 to Augustine M. and Rita M. (Hernandez) Alvarez in Kansas City, MO. He spent his early years growing up in the “north end” moving to Northeast area in his high school years. He attended Northeast High School where he graduated in 1971. On February 14, 1976 he married Linda Doylene Plummer. To this union was born two children, Amber Lynn and Chad Austin.
Ralph was employed for Kansas Gas Service for over 20 years and retired in 2015. He was a union member of the Kansas Gas Service. He was a 40 year member of Avondale Baptist Church and was a member of the church choir. Ralph volunteered at City Union Mission and led an “I Am Second” ministry. Ralph had many hobbies of which included leatherworking, art, quick draw shooting, horseback riding, softball, stage play acting, a skilled craftsman, among many others.
Ralph played drums for many years starting out in a high school band called “Norwegian Wood”. He then became a professional drummer for the bands “Headz Up” and “US”. He loved performing in all capacities and was a great speaker.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Augustine M. and Rita M. (Hernandez) Alvarez; a brother, John Alvarez; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Juanita Chick.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Linda Doylene Alvarez of the home; two children, Amber Lynn and husband, Bubba Moore, and Chad Austin Alvarez; a granddaughter, Bria Lynn; 5 sisters, Katherine (Bea), Rita, Theresa, Evonne, and Toni; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and two fur babies, Buddy Lee and Tiger Bear.
Ralph will be dearly missed by his family and many, many friends.
