Rachel Avila Aguirre was born on November 7, 1941; on the morning of March 8, 2021, her soul left her physical body, but its journey continues. Rachel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She retired from Kansas City Power & Light. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Parish and her devotion to the Catholic Church was also served as a member of the Kansas City Guadalupana Society.
She was preceded in death and reunited with her husband, Gilberto Aguirre; her mother, Dolores Camarillo Juarez-Avila; father, Francisco Avila; sisters, Naomi Valenciano, Ruth Lopez, Irene Ruiz; brothers, Cesario Juarez, Refugio Juarez, Daniel Avila, Adolph Avila. She is survived by her sons, Gilbert Aguirre (Misty), Vincent Aguirre; and daughter, Leslie Aguirre (Sean Snyder); daughter of the heart, Felicitas “Phyllis” Hadden; brothers, Salvador and Henry Avila; sister, Katie Mendoza. She had a special place in her heart for her 7 grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Micheal, Mario, Anthony, Leela, Vincent, and Scarlett.
It’s hard not to believe in miracles if you were in her presence. Her path was fraught with multiple life and death medical conditions, but through her warrior spirit and deep faith, she prevailed time after time. Rachel was a walking miracle. She led by example, and family over everything was her personal motto before it ever was a hashtag. However, her generous heart and welcoming nature embraced many others into that very cherished circle. Her love and light shines on.
