Phillip Joseph Ryan

Phillip Joseph Ryan of Independence MO born June 17th, 1960. passed away at home surrounded by his wife Georgia and best friends Bill and Kim Hanes and Becky Pocock Tuesday March 22nd, 2022 after almost a yearlong battle with lung cancer.

Phillip is preceded in death by his mother and father Nancy Sue Ryan and Leonard Joseph Ryan and his brother Christopher Joseph Ryan. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Georgia Ryan and his sister Nancy Jane Eberle.

He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Rachel Metzdorf, Cristi Fortner, Scott Thurman, Brandon and Brittany Ryan and many great nieces and nephews. And additional nieces and nephews Kelly, Alex and Aimee Hanes from his best friends Bill and Kim Hanes. Timothy and Michael McCarty from his sister-in-law Vacha McCarty. Andrea, Stefanie, Michel and Michael from his brother-in-law Michael Powell, Dakota, Ashli, Kaleb and Logan from his brother-in-law Lahiri Powell. Jason and Montana from his brother-in-law William Powell. Edwin Fischer from his sister-in-law Virginia Brown.

Phillip retired from the Palm Harbor Florida Fire Department in 2006 and moved back to Missouri at the request of his father and to be around his family and friends.

Once back in Missouri he enjoyed the retired life and playing with all his toys (Motorcycles, dirt bikes, 4 wheelers, jet skis, boats, tractors and all night long WII games).

A visitation for Phillip will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 11924 East 47th Street, Kansas City, MO 64133. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM, 11924 East 47th Street, Kansas City, MO 64133. A continuation of visitation will occur Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, 11924 East 47th Street, Kansas City, MO 64133.
