On November 24 Paul peacefully joined his beloved wife of 72 years, Marthetta, who preceded him in death one year ago. He was a loving father to Susan (Jon) George and the late Peter Parnell Jr. (Marsha). Cherished grandfather to Jennifer (Steve) Carrico, Jon George Jr., Josh (Katy) George, Thad (Emily) Parnell, Nikkole Test and proud great-grandfather of eight. A dear brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many.
He served with the Army in the Philippines during WWII then began his career as a watchmaker in Kansas City at Helzberg Jewelers before joining and retiring from Diessl Jewelers in Independence, Mo. He continued to repair watches well into his 80's. He was an active member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church until he and Marthetta moved to St. Louis in 2011.
We will all miss his dry humor, love of music and art and his ability to fix anything!
Paul will be honored on Friday, December 4 at Mount Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Mo., with a visitation for family and friends 12:00 - 1:00. Service will follow at 1:00. The family suggests a donation to Hospice in Paul's name in lieu of flowers.
Arrangements under the direction of Mount Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, Kansas City, MO.
