Paula N. Alaniz

Paula N. Alaniz, 89 of Kansas City, MO passed away in her home peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on July 19, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Monday, July 24 at St. James Catholic Church, 39th and Harrison, KCMO. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-6 pm Sunday at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd., KCMO, where the rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm.

Paula was born April 28, 1928 in Kansas City, MO to Gonzalo and Concepcion (Martinez) Negrete. She married Noe Alaniz in 1948 and to this union 13 children were born. She was a longtime, faithful parishioner of St. James Church. Paula retired after many years of service from Lifetouch Publishing. Paula was preceded in death by Noe, Sr., sons, Noe Alaniz, Jr. and Rafael Alaniz and two daughters, Anna Maria Garcia and Elisa Maria Alaniz; and two brothers, Dr. Dionisio Negrete and Jose Negrete. Paula’s survivors include five sons, Jesse Alaniz (Liz), Reynaldo Alaniz, Roberto Alaniz (Theresa), Ricardo Alaniz, and Joseph Alaniz (Olivia); four daughters, Lydia Alaniz, Maria Elena Alaniz, Consuelo Alaniz (Jason) and Paula Alaniz; son-in-law John Garcia, Sr.; daughter-in-law Rosie Alaniz; one sister, Alice Wasko; 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mom enjoyed crocheting, spending time with her family and cooking for them. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and was loved and will be missed by all.
